Mandatory application of this schedule: 1. This entry covers ammonium nitrate based fertilizers of uniform mixtures of nitrogen with or without potash and/or phosphate within the following composition limits:
( BIMCO's explanatory note: It must contain not more than 70% (≤ 70%) AN with not more than 0.4 % (≤ 0.4%) total combustible organic material calculated as carbon or not more than 45% (≤ 45%) AN and unrestricted combustible material. In both cases, the AN must be equal or greater than 20% (≥ 20%) and chloride content has to be equal or greater than 2% (≥ 2%) .
2. Shipper's Declaration: the shipper shall declare the ammonium nitrate content and the chloride content in accordance with 4.2 of the IMSBC Code.
3.Important note: the provisions of this schedule would not apply to fertilizers with the above composition limits, that have been assigned class 9 due to the hazard of self-sustaining decomposition based on the results of the trough test (referred to in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria part III, section 39.
